چکیده

The ability of offloading selected IP data traffic from 3G to WLAN access networks is considered a key feature in the upcoming 3GPP specifications, being the main goal to alleviate data congestion in cellular networks while delivering a positive user experience. Lately, the 3GPP has adopted solutions that enable mobility of IP-based wireless devices relocating mobility functions from the terminal to the network. To this end, the IETF has standardized Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), a protocol capable to hide often complex mobility procedures from the mobile devices. This paper, in line with the mentioned offload requirement, further extends PMIPv6 to support dynamic IP flow mobility management across access wireless networks according to operator policies. Considering energy consumption The research of Carlos J. Bernardos, Antonio de la Oliva, Telemaco Melia and Fabio Giust leading to these results has received funding from the European Community’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7-ICT-2009-5) under grant agreement n. 258053 (MEDIEVAL project). Carlos J. Bernardos and Maria Calderon have also received funding from the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain, under the QUARTET project (TIN2009-13992-C02-01) . T. Distributed Data Path and Mobility Function Scheme for PMIPv6 in Flattened Networks

Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a most promising mobility management solution to pave a way toward all IP-based networks for the next generation networks. Many researchers are paying attention to PMIPv6 because of its network-based mobility feature. However, PMIPv6 relies on centralized and hierarchical mobility management approach that make it difficult to break away from problems such as single point of...

Design and Simulation of a Flow Mobility Scheme Based on Proxy Mobile IPv6

Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is a network-based mobility support protocol and it does not require Mobile Nodes (MNs) to be involved in the mobility support signaling. In the case when multiple interfaces are active in an MN simultaneously, each data flow can be dynamically allocated to and redirected between different access networks to adapt to the dynamically changing network status and to bala...

A New Network Based Global Mobility Management

MIPv6 [1] and PMIPv6 [2] are the preferred mobility methods to facilitate mobility in IPv6 networks today. Though PMIPv6 is a step forward in the direction towards a network based solution, it is still limited as it is a local mobility management solution as it is impractical to have single Local Mobility Anchors (LMAs) with jurisdiction over networks belonging to different organizations. In th...
